Digital Retinal Imaging

Dr. Britney Caruso uses the most current technology to give a thorough analysis of the health of the eye by taking a computerized digital retinal image. This is a digital picture of the back of the eye that is immediately viewable on a computer screen, printed for the patient’s record, and stored for future review.

Digital retinal imaging can assist in the early detection and documentation of numerous eye diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and pre-cancerous lesions. Baseline images of the retina are recommended to be used for future comparison in order to give the most comprehensive examination.

Dr. Britney Caruso has a breakthrough instrument to help with the early detection of eye problems called Spot. Spot was newly introduced by a company called PediaVision to screen for vision problems and give a comprehensive analysis for conditions such as near-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia), unequal refractive power (anisometropia), eye curvature anomalies (astigmatism), eye alignment problems (strabismus), and pupil size differences (anisocoria). In a matter of seconds, Spot provides comprehensive, reliable information about vision to allow Dr. Caruso to give the best patient care.
